About Us

The mission of the Lillian Snyder Icarian Living History Foundation is to provide knowledge of the Icarian history to the descendants of Icaria and to the public, and to promote the Icarian ideals of equality, liberty and fraternity.

To accomplish this mission, the Foundation undertakes to:

• Locate, authenticate, document, acquire, preserve, secure and display artifacts from the Icarian colonies.
• Establish educational displays in a museum setting and on the web about the Icarian colonies and the Nauvoo colony in particular.
• Document the role of Emile Baxter, his family and descendants in the Nauvoo colony and in subsequent local history.
• Work with other Icarian organizations to research, preserve and promote Icarian history.
• Work with other local historical organizations to research, preserve and promote Icarian history.
• Raise funds and locate resources needed to accomplish the above goals.

The Lillian Snyder Icarian Living History Foundation is an Illinois Non-Profit corporation. It has been approved by the IRS as a tax exempt organization under §501(c)(3).
